Proud students of the Nokesville Elementary School, wave to the crowd of onlookers lining the parade route, alone Fitzwater Drive, during the annual Nokesville Day celebration. Joseph P Cirone > NOKESVILLE, VA (May 19, 2007) – A male horse rider, sporting a Virginia Tech (VT) football jersey and carrying an American Flag, leads the Nokesville Horse Society contingent during the annual Nokesville Day parade, along Fitzwater Drive. Many of the Society’s riders, as well as others participating in this year’s parade wore VT jerseys or displayed the VT banner on their horse, vehicle or float, in remembrance of those 30-plus students who were murdered by a lone gunman/fellow student on VT’s campus, a few weeks ago. The remembrance of the VT students, the  parade, a fire hall breakfast, lunch at a local Church, street-side vendors, music, and attractions along the Fitzwater Drive, helped keep the feeling of a small-town close-knit community of yesteryear alive in Nokesville. McIntrye and “Kerin,” were part of a contingent of horses and rider from the Nokesville Horse Society.
